Here is the recorder anchor chart I made today. As we start Recorder Karate, these are things that students will need to master. Eventually, all of these things will be automatic for them! If not, they will always have this to refer to! Hooray for anchor charts!

I love these! Is it OK if I take some of your ideas and make them in Photoshop? I would like to post them for other people to download - free, of course!

I am following up on this...I realize I said I am in the process of working on some of my stuff in Photoshop and I AM, but I am expecting a baby so things have been going slowly in that department. I am still going to get it done! HAHA!

Re: discipline, you state 5 minutes on the clock for playing out of turn. I'm a new teacher and am interested in what clock you reference here.

When a student gets 5 minutes on the clock, that means that they have to wait 5 minutes to play again. They are responsible for watching the clock on their own, so I can continue to teach the class without having to monitor people's time out. It works extremely well and it is probably the #1 factor in the success of classroom management when we do our recorder unit.

Do you have a beginning newsletter that you send home to parents to introduce recorders that you would like to share? Thank You very much. Also, any beginning books that you recommend?
